The M.V. Ocean Explorer 1 provides us the globally unique on-the-water accommodations-dining and marine environment-heliskiing experience. The M.V. Ocean Explorer 1 Captain and Crew have been navigating the waters of the West Coast for decades in forestry related ventures. The ship is busy all year with fishing and heliskiing tours. The OE crew are eager to share their marine environment knowledge and anchor you in quiet bays below the world's most interesting heliski and heliboard terrain. The ship moves during the day while you busy on the heliskiing slopes.
Evidence of human habitation in the region dates back 10,000 years ago. The gentle waters of the Pacific Ocean inlets support the world's largest intact temperate rainforest, and are rich in First Nation's and mariner exploration history.
First Nations traditional knowledge of these waterways, on which they moved entire villages in large cedar canoes, has been instrumental in the design of our heliskiing tour season. Many non-skiing activities are possible from the boat, including crabbing, beachcombing, hot springs visits, forest floor tours, and even water skiing for the hardy athlete. All required marine safety and preparedness procedures are followed for movement in the smaller vessel.
